Lovestruck

Bass drum, bass drum, bass drum, bu-bu-bu…brrrringggg!

I’m channeling myself 3 weeks ago, and have come to the conclusion that this song is accurate. From the point Amalia opens her mouth, in combination with the retro drums and synths, there’s a fume of love and eighties nostalgia. Not to mention, Amalia has such a lovely, soulful voice, taking me right to the movies Somekind of Wonderful and Valley Girl.

There is obviously nothing better than Onra, except for the fact that Onra did a collaboration with Amalia to make a funky love song. Like songs past, this one makes me pulse on the inside.  The product of this song is a warm heart and some flashbacks to loves past.

…he’s been on a retro nineties/eighties hip-hop/pop feel the last handful of tracks. I can dig it. Onra. My love. Can you be my valentine?

get up, get up, get up
(it’s catchy too)

Think Less, Feel More

I feel like I am on the beach with a lover. Warm summer rays wrapping around us and a sense of carelessness on the mind when I listen to Moon Pollen’s most recent album release, “Think Less, Feel More.” The title says it all.

Moon Pollen is a four member electronic chillwave band out of Argentina and lucky for you, this album was dropped just this month. The album is definitely a play on their style with those warm beats, lovely chord progressions and nods to new wave.

Basically, if you can dig yourself some Jenocide, Rush Midnight, Class Actress and Washed Out, definitely give these cats a listen. “You Don’t Want To See Me,” and “Shine” are worth a listen. There’s a groovy bass line in “You Don’t Want To See Me,” that has got me dancing around my room and the main singer’s beautiful voice gives me butterflies.

Here’s to you Moon Pollen. My newest obsession.

HARDLIFE

You can’t really capture Early Sounds forthcoming EP in words. The sultry composition that ties this EP together is rad beyond belief. The thick bass and retro sound gives a nod to UK’s finest classic house composers of the 90’s with a new perspective. While I listen to this EP each 3 minute “snippet” encompasses a new feel. Hardlife, the title song of the EP is probably my favorite out of the mix. The bass is ripe and from the start each carefully crafted sound introduces itself adding to the soon to be brag worthy gem for DJs. By the end of the EP I am left like a girl who just had her first kiss. Wanting More.

If you could do anything fantastic today, it would be to listen to this EP. You won’t regret the 12 glorious minutes of sweet 4/4’s.
